Research and Reference Assistance

The Law Library of Osgoode Hall Law School has a full complement of professional reference librarians, many with law degrees, who are expert in conducting research generally and legal research specifically. Do not hesitate to consult with any of the reference librarians at any stage of your research.

Because of the renovation of Osgoode Hall Law School, the Osgoode Law Library is currently located in temporary facilities in the Health, Nursing & Environmental Studies (HNES) building directly next door to the law school. Until the move back into Osgoode and our new library in September 2011, Osgoode Library Services is located in room HNES 018.

Mooting Teams

Special, extended borrowing privileges are granted to all moot team members at Osgoode. The Mooting Director must notify the library of the team members, after which each team member will be issued with a special borrower’s card. The loan period associated with these cards is 100 days or the date of expiry of the card, whichever comes first. This loan period does not apply to reserve materials, for which the normal reserve loan period remains in effect. Each team member is responsible for any library materials signed out to him/her and for ensuring that they are returned on time.

Research Assistants

To help them better serve the faculty for whom they are working, Research Assistants (RAs) are issued special borrowing privileges in the Osgoode library. To obtain these privileges, you must first register with the library: the registration form can be downloaded here. Before submitting the application, your faculty instructor must first complete the upper portion of the application for the RA’s library card. Further, your personal library account must be clear of all charges, fines or penalties before the RA borrowing privileges can be extended to you.

Please contact the Circulation Desk if you have any questions.
