Welcome to the Law Library of Osgoode Hall Law School!

IIn September, 2009, the library was relocated to temporary facilities to allow for the complete renovation and expansion of Osgoode Hall Law School and the Law Library. The new library is scheduled to open in the summer of 2011.

Our mission is to fully support the intensive research and innovative teaching for which Osgoode Hall Law School is known, by collecting, organizing, preserving and disseminating legal and law-related information in any form; by providing effective service and instruction; and by exploiting electronic information systems to provide access to new information products and services.

Our vision is to be the leader in the innovative provision of information and services on Canadian law and law in context. With more than 500,000 volumes, the Law Library of Osgoode Hall Law School has the largest collection of any law library in the British Commonwealth. It includes the largest collection of historical (pre-1900) Canadian legal texts and primary sources anywhere and a significant collection of early English and American law books. These outstanding print collections, of international calibre, are supplemented by a growing range of online and digital resources, including LexisNexis, Quicklaw and Westlaw Canada, to which all members of the Osgoode community have access. There are many country and topic-specific tools which provide researchers with in-depth access to the laws of Australia, India, the Caribbean, international commercial arbitration and United Nations treaties and documents.

Access to these print and online resources is made possible by a staff of professional librarians, all highly qualified in law as well as librarianship. These librarians are available to assist students, faculty members, alumni and the profession with reference and research enquiries and with training in the use of online resources.
