Loan Renewals
Loans can be renewed using the following methods:
- Online – An online self-renewal service is available on http://www.library.yorku.ca . Under the heading SERVICES, select Borrow and Renew, click on renew Online. A YU-card and a Passport York account are required for this service.
- In Person – At the Circulation Desk at any of the libraries. Materials and your YU-card must be available in order to provide the information required for renewal transactions. 14 day loans are limited to a maximum of six renewals while 100 day loans may be renewed twice provided there are no other requests for those items.
Holds
Materials can be placed on hold if you locate an item in the library catalogue that has been checked out and there are no other copies available. Please complete an online HOLD request by clicking on the HOLD ITEM button at the bottom or top of the screen. If the item is out on a 14 day loan, a HOLD will be placed for you. If it is out on a 100 day loan a RECALL will be made.
When the item is returned, it will be held for you for 7 days. If there is an additional hold request for an item the normal loan period will be reduced to 7 days. Online requests are placed on the next working day. HOLD requests can also be placed at the Circulation Desk of any York University Library.
Searches
If you are unable to locate an item, please enquire at the Circulation Desk. If the item is not out on loan, you can request a SEARCH. You will be notified by email when the book is located and it will be held for you for 7 days.
SEARCH request forms are available at the Circulation Desk
